LOS TIGRES DEL NORTE AT FOLSOM PRISON

A NETFLIX ORIGINAL

Fifty years after Johnny Cash walked into Folsom Prison, we got unprecedented access to do it again — this time with Los Tigres del Norte, the legendary Mexican band, performing two concerts inside the walls. One for the men. One for the women.

What makes this more than a concert film is what happens between the music — Latino inmates sharing the stories that brought them there, their voices woven so tightly with the songs that the two become inseparable. Powerful, at times joyful, and unlike anything else on Netflix.

Getting cameras into a secure correctional facility is hard. Getting cameras into two is a logistical feat. In partnership with Oscar-winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel) and Universal Music Group, I coordinated multi-partner production across both facilities, managed dual-unit crews and talent, and delivered two distinct but inseparable products — a globally distributed Netflix documentary that reached millions, and a companion live album that captured the concert in full. The project earned a Latin Grammy and stands as one of the most emotionally raw pieces of work I've been part of.
